From: Geoff Collier

Russian Convoy Medal British Sailors.

My brother-in-law, Petty Officer Albert Eaves, No.JX142448 was serving on the minesweeper HMS Bramble when it was sunk on 31st.December 1942 whilst escorting Convoy JW-518 taking supplies to Russia. The vessel was sunk by the German cruiser 'Admiral Hipper' in the Barents Sea. I understand there is a medal issued by Russia to which he is entitled and I would like to apply for same on behalf of his son and grandchildren. Can you please inform me how to go about it, and oblige.

Kind Regards, Geoff Collier.

EAVES Albert Petty Officer

My sister Milly couldn't face the Service because she was married in the same Church by the Rev. Ernest Holehouse on October 3rd 1942 to Petty Officer Albert Eaves RN who lost his life only 3 months later on 31st December 1942 whilst serving aboard HMS Bramble on Russian Convoy duty.
